Welcome to your ultimate Chicago Pride Month Guide! June is our National Pride Month where we promote the self-affirmation, dignity, equality and increased visibility of LGBTQIA+ people and communities. Giving you a sneak peak of some popular pride events happening in Chicago this June definitely wasn’t enough so we’ve compiled a list of some of the best pride festivals and events to attend in Chicago as well as the best organisations supporting LGBTQIA+ rights to donate to. 


8 Pride Events You Won’t Want to Miss

 

Rainbow Storytime with Mr James until June 17th 

Chicago’s Public Library is hosting an online storytime for children from ages 0 to 5 years old. This kid-friendly event is free, easy, and all from the comfort of your own home! This is the perfect, educational summer activity for parents running out of creative ways to entertain their children.

Pride North Chicago on June 26th and 27th 

A two-day block party event with two stages and three dance floors in the Glenwood Arts District of Rogers Park? Sign. Us. Up! Admission is free but don’t forget your vaccination card! Check out their Facebook page here for all updates. 

Adults Night Out on June 26th 

Lincoln Park Zoo is hosting an adult-only, Pride Month themed night out with drag bingo, drag performers, and LGBTQIA+ owned businesses. Whether you’re looking for a night away from the kids or searching for some good date night ideas, this event has got you covered.

 

Pride Bowl XII on June 26th and 27th

 

The Chicago Metropolitan Sports Association’s annual Pride football tournament returns to Montrose Soccer Field! This competition is notorious for welcoming LGBTQIA+ teams from across the country therefore, it’s a great way to meet people out of your circle or find a new social outlet.

 

Andersonville’s Back Lot Bash on September 24th and 25th 

Andersonville’s Back Lot Bash started in 2004 and is known for being one of the largest inclusive music festivals in Chicago during Pride month. It is an outdoor celebration of local and emerging musicians of different genres. Save the date and stay tuned for more info here

 

Navy Pier Pride on June 26th 

Navy Pier’s annual LGBTQIA+ Pride is back with more music, more dancing, and more offerings than ever before. Mark your calendars for this day-long celebration and stay tuned for the full line-up. 

 

Chicago Pride Fest on Oct 1st and 2nd  

Join Chicagoans in celebrating LGBTQIA+ life, culture, and community on this annual, two-day street festival! Despite the event being pushed to October, we guarantee it will be worth the wait! Stay tuned for the performer line-up and vending information.

 

Chicago Pride Parade on October 3rd 

This year’s 51st Chicago Pride Parade will be held on October 3rd which means extra time to celebrate all things Pride! The route remains the same, beginning at Montrose and Broadway and finishing at Cannon Drive. See you there!

 

 

8 Organizations That Support LGBTQIA+ Rights 

 

Center on HalstedChicago’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Community Center’s vision is to create a thriving LGBTQIA+ community in supportive inclusive environments. 

 

Howard Brown Health – A staff dedicated to delivering expert care to the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies. 

 

Gender JUST – This strong collective has two main goals. Firstly, make LGBTQIA+ communities more inclusive by abolishing race, class, gender, age, religion and other hierarchies, and secondly, promote community-based solutions to safety and wellness in order to reduce violence. 

Chicago House – Since 1985, Chicago House has provided permanent, community-based housing, employment and health services for individuals and families struggling with HIV and AIDS. 

 

Affinity Community Services – For 25 years, Affinity has centered on Black queer women through community organizing, programming, education, and healing justice. Their number one goal is to envision a society where all Black LGBTQIA+ people can be free. 

 

Transformative Justice Law ProjectThis organization provides free, life-affirming, and gender-affirming holistic criminal legal services.

 

The Night Ministry’s overnight youth shelter, The CribAn overnight space for young people ages 18 to 24 to get a hot meal, sleep, do yoga, dance, rest, and be safe. All genders and sexual orientations are welcome and the center is open seven nights a week.

 

Lambda LegalFounded in 1973, it is the oldest and largest national legal organization whose mission is to achieve full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and everyone living with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work.
