Hot New Restaurants and Bars To Try This Summer

With more than 7,300 restaurants spread throughout the city, Chicago is a foodie’s paradise. It can be hard to resist the draw of your local favorite, but you definitely don’t want to miss any of the new establishments that are creating a buzz. We’ve done some digging to find the most popular restaurants that recently opened or plan to open this summer. How many can you visit before autumn rolls around?

Marinas Cafe is slated to open late in the summer in Avondale. It will serve modern Puerto Rican food along with Latin fusion flavors. The restaurant currently offers catering, and you can subscribe to updates about the upcoming opening here

From Here On Food Hall & Market recently opened in the Old Post Office located in the West Loop. The team behind the food hall has a goal of creating a hospitality experience that includes food vendors, cooking classes, a farmers market, and more. You can find out more about each of the seven vendors on the website, but current options include Hot Chi Chicken, Familiar Bakery, and the Italian eatery Tempesta.

Truth Be Told– an English-inspired tavern– opened last month at The Study at the University of Chicago. The menu offers hearty options like lamb shepherd’s pie, fish and chips, and a warm roast beef sandwich.

Quality Time is opening this month in Logan Square brought to you by the folks at Bangers & Lace. The neighborhood bar will feature a rotating cocktail menu, craft beers on tap, and other favorites. Follow the bar on Instagram for updates about their opening.

Chef Art Smith will be opening his new restaurant, Reunion, at the Navy Pier. It’s a sister store to Smith’s restaurant Homecomin’, found at Disney World. No menu has been released yet, but Smith did mention one item you can probably anticipate as an option: the Reunion Hemp Seed Lemon Cake with Roasted Hemp Seed Drizzle.

A French-themed wine bar named Apero’s is opening later this summer. Robert Cervantes, the owner, plans on serving Great Lakes wines and natural wines produced without the use of chemicals, along with charcuterie options. The bar will be located on N. Lincoln Avenue in North Center.
