7 Heated Outdoor Patios in Chicago

With the colder temperatures upon us and Covid still running rampant, the population of Chicago has needed to get creative for its social libation needs. We have put together a list of places in the Chicagoland area that have either heated patios or heated separated seating situations to make you feel comfortable while still enjoying the great restaurants that Chicago has to offer.

The Dawson has added an open-air tent to its building grounds as well as a marketplace where if you like the looks of a pie on the menu so much, you’ll be able to take one home. Not to mention raclette, a delicious wintertime comfort food.

Longing for the days of pizza and drinks with your friends? Then The Boiler Room might be the place for you. The enclosed, outdoor heated patio is still open! This is a cash-only restaurant, but you may want to use the ATM at The Boiler Room. With every ATM use, you get a free shot of whiskey! Just hang on to your receipt to show it to your server.

If you’d like to bring your pup out of the house, you’re able to do so and enjoy the game on TV at The Moonlighter! A heated patio and outdoor fireplaces are there to ensure you and your furry family members are comfortable. The Moonlighter’s main goal is to attempt to make you feel as though you’re as comfortable there as you are in your own home. It’s easy to do that with the 20 craft beers on tap and its world-class cocktail program.

In need of some hearty bar food and beer or cider? Look no further than ERIS Brewery and Cider House. The brewery/cider house will surely find something you’re bound to enjoy. The burgers and sandwiches are known favorites and have a pick-up option that includes its beer and cider. This restaurant has taken Covid precautions into consideration and added a heated patio to its space, which is located in Old Irving Park.

Big Star is a late-night honky-tonk, Wicker Park taqueria that has been a part of the neighborhood for the past 10 years has added outdoor space heaters on its very popular outdoor patio. Famous for its beer and bourbon, taco-focused menu it’s the restaurant the locals and visitors can’t seem to get enough of for very tasty reasons.

Bar Siena located on ‘restaurant row’ in the West Loop this outdoor, heated restaurant space is inspired by Italian street food. Every food item on the menu is made in-house, from scratch and meant to be shared with the table as soon as they are dropped off by your server. There is also a marketplace that offers many creations to prepare and enjoy at home.

If you miss going to camp then go to adult camp at Camp Lottie’s at Lottie’s Pub aka Molly’s! This establishment has taken it upon itself to provide separate tents for every reservation, which include private electric fireplaces as well as hand sanitizer and a lantern on every table. Enjoy a hot toddy or spiked hot cocoa from the menu and take in the bar that was made famous by Chicago Fire.

Whether you’re feeling a fancy heated patio downtown or a fun camp vibe in Bucktown, we hope that this list provides you some much-needed fun for the winter months ahead. Keep in mind that most of these restaurants have marketplaces as well, so you’re able to pick up ingredients for yummy at-home creations
