While the number of pools is smaller than hoped for, there are still a few options available. Take a look at our compiled list to help you get through the Summer heat and navigate the new rules and expectations when cooling off. Note, swimming in Lake Michigan is a viable option under designated lakefront allowances.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The following pools are at this present time, open:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Deerfield, Mitchell Pool will be open for the season, however, a date has yet to be communicated.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Lake Bluff, the park district\u2019s swimming pool is open for business with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lakebluffparks.org\/parks-facilities\/blair-park-pool\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">stipulations<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Orland Park, the Centennial Park Aquatic Center is open.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please keep in mind that there will be extra precautions when enjoying these pools. In order to ensure your safety this Summer, the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), have taken special considerations when making new rules for swimming this year:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two-hour swimming sessions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All chairs have been removed. Patrons are encouraged to bring their own or to rent sanitized deck chairs available on site.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Season pass holders are allowed entry until capacity is reached that will allow social distancing to be observed.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Daily passes will still be sold.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After each swim time slot, the pool will be cleared out of patrons and disinfected.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Patrons are allowed to attend as many pool sessions as they like.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wear a mask at all times.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stay at least six feet away from all other people.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The following pools will remain closed until further review:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the city of Chicago, public pools are staying closed until further notice.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Tinley Park, officials are waiting for IDPH guidance for Phase 4.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Highland Park, pools will remain closed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Elgin, all outdoor pools are closed for the season, the option of indoor pools are still being determined.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In Naperville, the public beach will remain closed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fox Valley pools will stay closed for the season.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While there was hope that more pools would be readily available in the staggering hot months the city has come up with a strategy for a safer alternative for cooling down this Summer. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagoparkdistrict.com\/parks-facilities\/water-spray-features\">Spray stations<\/a> have been posted throughout select <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/assets.chicagoparkdistrict.com\/s3fs-public\/documents\/locations\/spray%20features\/Water%20Emergency%20-%20Park%20Spray%20Features%20Now%20Open.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">areas<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Chicago to help combat the heat. Most of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagoparkdistrict.com\/parks-facilities\/water-spray-features\">spray stations <\/a>will be available for use from 9am-9pm daily. Social distancing must be practiced, and masks are required.
